Meet Cabin: Airbnb as a Network State
High trust community powered by onchain reputation.
Cabin is Airbnb reimagined as a network state. Born in the web3 era, Cabin (cabin.city) is aimed at digital nomads seeking beautiful, remote places to live/work, and immerse in local experiences. However, unlike Airbnb, where anyone can list and book, involvement in Cabin requires earning trust first that’s encoded on Ethereum.
Trust is important and Cabin solves for that through their onchain reputation system. To list and book spaces and experiences on Cabin, one must become a Cabin Citizen or receive a vouch from a current citizen.
Listen to the podcast to deep dive into how Cabin built their Network State. You can also listen on Apple or impactdaos.xyz
I chatted with Jonathan Dean, a core contributor at Cabin, to learn about what makes them different from Airbnb. He explained Cabin's unique approach: community-governed and onchain reputation feature that drives their network city. Also how they're abstracting the blockchain from the user experience and making it easy for everyone to participate in the network.
