The Day Crypto Philanthropy Arrived
Close to $1.5 Billion towards social good on a single day
Vitalik Buterin the cryptocurrency billionaire and founder of Ethereum who was in the news for his $1 billion crypto donation to India’s relief efforts has also made crypto donations to other nonprofits.
On the day (May 12, 2021) he made his big donation to India’s Crypto Covid Relief Fund he also donated to many other nonprofits making his total contribution much larger than 1 billion. The combined estimated USD value on the day donations were made is over $1.5 billion.

It’s been a monumental week for crypto philanthropy. Vitalik’s big donations attracted the world’s press and created massive awareness around cryptocurrencies helping solve the world’s problems. What’s more fascinating is that even the dog-themed memecoins (SHIB and Dogelon) ended up doing a ton of good. Seeing the events of this week I’m bullish that crypto will play a big role in financing a better future.
